I’m Michael Ridgway, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC5977) based in California. Counseling is a second career for me — one that reflects my lifelong commitment to meaningful work and human connection.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for many years in Silicon Valley’s public and private tech sectors. That experience shaped my understanding of work-life stress, transitions, and the pressure to perform — themes I often explore with clients navigating high-demand careers or periods of personal reinvention.
After earning my Master’s in Counselor Education from San José State University, I worked with a wide range of clients across community centers, public schools (K–12), and nonprofit organizations. My license includes additional certification to work with couples and families, and I’m a proud member of CALPCC, CAMFT and the American Counseling Association.
I created Michael Ridgway Counseling Services as a place where people could feel safe to explore life’s biggest questions — about identity, purpose, relationships, and mental health — with honesty and compassion. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, burnout, OCD, relational distress, or questions about who you’re becoming, I offer support grounded in experience, curiosity, and care.
Outside of my work, I’m married, ordained to the diaconate since 2008, and the father of one adult son. I love hiking, running, traveling, gardening, restoring vintage Macintosh computers, and tinkering with my classic car — and I’m always up for a great book or meaningful conversation with family and friends.
